Kurikan geologia

GeoDays 2025

The GeoDays 2025 event was held at the University of Oulu from March 11 to 13, bringing together geoscientists and professionals from across Finland and abroad.

GeoDays is a geoscience seminar coordinated jointly by the Geological Society of Finland, the Geological Survey of Finland (GTK), universities, and other geoscience organizations. This year the seminar was held for the third time.

The event featured presentations on recent research findings and current research trends. One of the key themes was the geological research of the Kurikka region. Kurikka was prominently represented at the event in other ways as well, as Kurikan Vesihuolto Oy was one of the event’s sponsors.

Posterisessio

The research on Kurikka’s geology and groundwater has advanced significantly and will continue in the future. Behind these extensive studies is a large group of experts and researchers, some of whom attended the seminar. Presenting the research on the Kurikka region were Timo Ruskeeniemi, Annika Åberg, Aleksi Tuunainen, Marie-Amelie Petre, Tiina Eskola, Juuso Ikonen, and also Niko Putkinen, who has been involved in the research of Kurikka’s geology from the very beginning. More about the latest research findings will be revealed later this year and in the coming years.
