The project produces and provides schools and teachers with materials to support education. The materials combine theoretical knowledge with practical application. Students will have the opportunity to explore Kurikka’s deep groundwater and geology, as well as related research during field trips, which will include activities such as checkpoints and tasks for the students. Various gamification methods, such as Kahoot quizzes, field trip assignments, and hydrogeology-related board games, are being developed to support education.
The goal is to help students understand the significance of Kurikka’s deep groundwater and to spark their interest in geology and hydrogeology for future studies.
Hydrogeology field course in Kurikka
In the fall of 2024, a group of geology students from the University of Helsinki visited the Kurikka area to learn about hydrogeological research methods. During the week-long course, the students had the opportunity to try out various research methods in practice and explore Kurikka’s groundwater resources.
